Last 2 months of 2008

The daylight savings time officially ended yesterday, 11/3/2008. I adjusted my schedule an hour later which translates to coming to work at 12 a.m. Public transportation is reliable given the lateness of my work schedule. I just need to be extra careful and alert since the ‘ber months spell more incidents of snatching and theft. My mace is still in good condition. I tested it last week, sprayed it on vacuum and fortunately the atomizer, is working perfectly.

‘Ber months also means endless Christmas parties! As of this time, I’m not sure where the venue would be. Last year, HR changed the venue two weeks prior to the scheduled date. It was outside the business district but nevertheless, didn’t have problems getting a cab. Which reminds me, after last year’s party, I headed back to the office. To work. Geez. So, there was I, in party outfit, working (almost) alone in the office. I hope the client would be kind enough to grant me the day off or the night off, whichever.

Before I party, the ‘ber months remind me that I’ll be celebrating my two years of being a night owl. I survived (with an on and off anemia, unfortunately)! I’ve been thinking of moving or going back to school. But for now, I’d leave it at that. No concrete plans yet especially on the latter.

Reflecting on the year that has been, we’re still a over a month shy of 2009, I can say that it’s been a good year despite the financial crisis, inflation and the continuing increase of the cost of living in Manila. The usual highs and lows in the corporate scene are all but part of the playing field. Competition is fierce. Moreso now, the volatility of the global economy is at its crucial stage. Anxiety has become the norm. I hope things would be a lot better next year. Who knows?
