I love Linkedin a lot but lately, the notifications have turned into a nuisance. My inbox is clogged with group updates. You might suggest that I leave the group as this is the most practical thing to do but there are “gems” among the spammy updates. Had they’ve been job alerts – how I wish they all are -- I wouldn’t have been ranting like this. The annoying part is that some of these alerts are not really relevant to the group.
I don’t think I can filter these out unless I delist myself from the email notifications every time there is an update which I don’t want to do, at least for now.

My peeves on LinkedIn Groups

It is indeed annoying when people deviate from the purpose of a particular grouping. Some people have a tendency to "socialize" each group they belong to, disregarding the fact that in the first place, the purpose behind the establishment of the grouping was professional and not social.
Social/personal interaction between group members ought to be taken off-line, that is, those people ought to communicate with each other using their personal emails or through some other means such as chats.
I found it annoying too. I have filtered the emails as spam and it goes right into my junk mail :(
